Following its terrific run in India as well as in major international markets, superstar Rajinikanth’s 2.0 was dubbed in Chinese. The distribution rights of the film bagged by HY Media who had distributed Akshay Kumar starrer Padman.

It was revealed that 2.0 will open in China in around 56,000 screens, making it the biggest release for an Indian 3D film ever and was eyeing a wide release in China on July 12. Later the release was pushed as Disney’s Lion King was due for release with a big opening in China.

Now, after considerable delay, the film set to hit the screens in China on September 6. To be distributed by Chinese distributor, HY Media the film will be screened in around 48,000 screens.

Shankar directed 2.0 marked the return of Rajinikanth as scientist Vaseegaran and Chitti robot. He was also seen playing the titular character 2.0, the reloaded version of Chitti. Akshay Kumar, who debuted in the role of an antagonist in southern cinema, was seen playing an ornithologist who uses the fifth force to wreak havoc and take revenge when he loses his fight to telecom companies while trying to save birds from dying from the sound emissions of mobile towers.

Released in India last year on November 29, 2.0 was produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under his banner Lyca Productions which was made on a budget of over Rs 300 crores, was released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. It is the most expensive film to be made in India till date. Filmmaker Karan Johar had released the Hindi version which did exceptionally well for a dubbed film.

The movie also starred Amy Jackson, Sudhanshu Pandey and Adil Hussain among others in key roles. The film’s technical crew comprised of AR Rahman for songs with the background score done by him and Qutub-E-Kripa, Nirav Shah for camera and Anthony for editing.
