Right from the time the first look and teaser of the Mohanlal starrer Odiyan released online, fans have gone gaga over it. It is clearly evident that the star had done everything to make his role look convincing.

According to the film’s director VS Shrikumar Menon, accolades are being showered on the film and the most important of it came from the Superstar Rajinikanth. He revealed that Rajinikanth, on seeing the teaser, called Mohanlal and appreciated his new look in the film.

Speaking to Manorama News the director said, “We have seen Lalettan’s moustache-twirling heroism. Now we can see his heroism without moustache. I am a Lal fan too".

It may be mentioned that Mohanlal had done a lot of homework to get into the skin of the character in the film. He shed around 15 kilos of weight to look younger and fitter and has indeed achieved this goal.

Odiyan, the fantasy thriller, stars Mohanlal as Odiyan Manickyan and Manju Warrier as Prabha. The star cast also includes Prakash Raj, Siddique, Innocent, Narain, Kailash, Sana Althaf, Appani Sarath and Nandhu.

Directed by VA Shrikumar, the film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under his banner Aashirvad Cinemas. M Jayanchandran is composing the music for the songs in the album while Sam CS is working on the background score. Shaji Kumar is working on the film’s cinematography while A Sreekar Prasad had been roped in as the editor. Hollywood stunt director Peter Hein is choreographing the stunt sequences and Prasanth Madhav is creating the sets for this period flick.

The shooting of this film is happening at a breakneck speed with plans to release it on March 30 as a summer special.

With the makers of Odiyan releasing the teaser and it going viral, the expectation levels for the film have gone up, particularly to catch Mohanlal in action.
