Rajinikanth cancels meet with fans, says far too many pictures to click!

Superstar Rajinikanth just can't seem to stay away from the news. This time, the actor made headlines after yet another cancellation of an event he was scheduled to attend. Much to the disappointment of his fans, the actor has said that he will not be meeting them from the 12th to 17th of this month, as announced on April 2.

Last week, Rajinikanth fan club's general secretary Sathyanarayanan had convened a meeting which was attended by 62 representatives from across the state. The meeting was held in order to discuss the logistics for the photo sessions to be held from April 12 to 17. The superstar was supposed to meet members of his fan club and pose for photographs with them. According to the general secretary, the event was being organised for the fans to meet the actor, as they had been requesting an opportunity for the last decade.

Just days ahead of the event, however, the actor has announced that the event stands cancelled. Addressing his fans on Saturday, he said, "It has been 10 years since I met all of you and took photos. You have been asking me over and over again but the time was not right. But now after planning this event at Raghavendra Kalyana mandapam, fans have expressed disappointment. They do not want group photos, they want individual pictures. There is justice in their demand." He then went on to say, that given this widespread feeling of disappointment, he is cancelling the event.

The superstar further went on to explain how he had planned out the meetings. “I was going to meet fans from 4 to 6 districts every day. With at least 300 from each district, that would be close to 2000 a day," he explains. "It was supposed to be like a get together. We decided we will take photos in batches of 8. But that is clearly not something that fans want," he adds.

Members of the Rajinikanth fan club however claim, that they have not been informed by the District-in-charge. "We haven't got any instructions about this yet. In fact we were all gearing up to meet the actor," says Michael Raja from Tirunelveli. "Yes we wanted individual pictures but after a decade of not meeting his fans, he could at least just spend time with us," he laments.

The actor however has sought the cooperation and understanding of his fans following the cancellation of the programme.
