Filmmaker Karthick Naren recently met Superstar Rajinikanth at his residence to show him the teaser of his upcoming film Mafia. Karthick took to Twitter share his excitement and revealed what Rajini had told him: “Brilliant work kanna. Semaya irukku. Loved it” These were Rajini sir’s words after watching the teaser of Mafia. Thank god I did not faint. Blown away by his humility. Thalaivar for a reason.” The film's teaser will release for the public on Monday at 6.00 pm by director AR Murugadoss on Twitter.

In an interview to the Cinema Express, Karthick had this to say about his film: “As the gangster drama is set in Chennai, the entire project will be shot in the city. We’re planning to wrap up the shoot in a single schedule of 35 days. The first look is more on a sneak peek to what can be expected from the characters. We have incorporated subtle hints about the lead’s characterization in it. All three principal actors will be doing roles that they have not done before.”
Mafia is bankrolled by Lyca Productions. Aravind Samy was the initial choice to play the lead role in this film but the role eventually went to Arun Vijay. The actor was impressed with the script that Karthik Naren came up with that he couldn’t refuse, say sources. Priya Bhavani Shankar has been roped in to play the female lead in this flick. The film also has Prasanna in an important role.
The technical crew of Mafia includes Jakes Bejoy for music composing, Gokul Benoy for cinematography and Sreejith Sarang for editing. The shooting of this film has been completed and it is currently in the post-production mode.
In the meantime, Arun Vijay is expecting the release of Agni Siragugal. It is an action thriller film directed by Naveen and produced by T Siva under his banner Amma Creations. The film has Vijay Anthony playing the lead role with Arun Vijay in a pivotal role. He has also inked the deal to star in Boxer. Arun Vijay will undergo special training in Mixed Martial Arts at the Lienphong Martial Center in Vietnam for this film, we hear.
