Having watched Ajith's Nerkonda Paarvai directed by H Vinoth, the Tamil remake of Bollywood film Pink, Rajinikanth called the actor over the phone to appreciate him on the film. Rajinikanth who had recently wrapped up the second schedule of Darbar made the telephone call soon after he watched the film.

Many from the film fraternity have appreciated the film for its message. Actors Suriya and Jyothika had sent a bouquet and a message to Ajith and Vinoth for their work. RJ tured actor, Balaji tweeted saying, "The decision to do a film like #NerKondaPaarvai for a star like Ajith sir is a game-changer in Tamil cinema. But the larger picture is the impact it can create in the minds of millions & millions of people who are going to watch it. An important msg delivered by an Icon. #RESPECT"

After watching the film, Director Suseenthiran wrote in a letter that it requires guts to do such a movie and that Ajith has given a superb performance like he did in Vaali and Varalaru.

Bankrolled by Boney Kapoor who forayed in southern filmdom with this film, the film has crossed the $1 million mark in just 3 days of its release. Producer of the film, Boney Kapoor, shared this news on Twitter and wrote, "*Nerkonda Paarvai shatters all records, grosses over 1 Million USD at the Overseas Box Office*".

The film also marks the Tamil debut of Vidya Balan and also stars Shraddha Srinath, Andrea Tariang and Abhirami Venkatachalam. The film also has journalist turned actor Rangaraj Pandey and director Adhik Ravichandran in pivotal roles.

Following the success of Nerkonda Paarvai, Ajith Kumar, H Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor will be joining together for another project. Currently dubbed as Thala 60 the film is rumoured to be set against racing and will be shot in exotic locations like South Africa, Budapest, and the Middle East. It is believed that the film will be launched this month and will go on floors early next month.
