There have been reports that the Rajinikanth starrer 2.0’s release date might be postponed to August and that his Kaala would hit the silver screens earlier than planned. However, the film’s hero, Rajinikanth said that there would be some clarity on the release dates of these films in a couple of days. The computer graphics work of the magnum opus 2.0 is consuming a lot of time and this is the reason behind the delay, we hear.

Initially, 2.0 was touted to hit the silver screens for Diwali last year and was later postponed to Republic Day this year. Then came an announcement that the movie would make it to the theatres in April to cash in on the summer vacation season but it now looks like the release may be postponed, even further.

With Rajinikanth making it clear that no decision regarding the film’s release has been made yet, fans need to wait for a couple of days more to get a clear picture. Speaking to the media, Rajinikanth said, “2.0 is scheduled to April 27 release as of now. But the CG work is taking time. The team is working really hard. We will know the release date in two to three days.”

Directed by S Shankar, 2.0 is made on a huge budget amounting to about Rs. 450 crores by A Subashkaran under his banner Lyca Productions. Starring Rajinikanth and Amy Jackson as the lead pair, the film has Akshay Kumar, the Bollywood star, playing the villain. The star cast also includes Sudhanshu Pandey, Adil Hussain, Kalabhavan Shajohn and Riyaz Khan in the supporting cast.

Oscar winning music composer AR Rahman is composing the tunes for this movie with Nirav Shah cranking the camera and Anthony editing it. Made simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi, 2.0 will be released in various Indian and international languages, say sources.
