
According to industry sources, Rajinikanth-starrer Kabali, which is slated for theatrical release on July 15, might be pushed by a week. While the sources do not know the reason for the delay, the makers have reportedly postponed the release to July 22, further affecting the release of several small films that had planned their release keeping in mind the release of Kabali.
The makers of the film have thus far not confirmed the postponing of the film.
Directed by Pa Ranjith, the film features Rajinikanth as a don fighting against atrocities towards Tamils in Malaysia. While speaking at the Telugu audio launch of Kabali over the weekend, Ranjith revealed that superstar will appear for 20 minutes in a much younger avatar in the film. The film also stars Radhika Apte, Kishore, Kalaiarasan, Dinesh, Dhansikaa and Dinesh. Taiwanese actor Winston Chao plays the primary antagonist in the film.
Tipped to release in over 3000 screens worldwide, the film will have a wide release in Malaysia where it was predominantly shot.
