The Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 is progressing at a brisk pace. While reports say that the film will be out in theatres early next year, it has been revealed that the motion capture sessions have begun.

Tau Films, which is working on the motion capture sessions of 2.0, has let out a sneak peek from the session, which has gone viral instantaneously. The current session is happening at the modern motion capture studio, The Sawmill, in Vancouver, Canada. Tau Films, a VFX company that has worked on the magnum opus Baahubali and its sequel, is putting in a lot of effort to get the best output. Following this, 2.0’s release, which was originally scheduled for Diwali this year, has been postponed to next year.

Directed by Shankar, 2.0 stars Rajinikanth in the lead role with Amy Jackson playing his lead pair. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is playing the main villain in this sci-fi thriller. Being the sequel to the 2010 hit film, Endhiran, 2.0 will have the Superstar in dual roles – Dr. Vaseegaran and Chitti – the Robot. Others in the cast include Sudhanshu Pandey, Adil Hussain, Kalabhavan Shajohn, and Riyaz Khan.

Made on a very huge budget, somewhere close to Rs.450 crore, the film is being bankrolled by Subaskaran Allirajah under his home banner Lyca Productions. The film, which is touted to hit the marquee on January 25, 2018, will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu simultaneously.

With a strong technical crew comprising the Oscar winning music director AR Rahman, cinematographer Nirav Shah and editor Anthony, the film has been written by Shankar and Jeyamohan. According to sources, music director AR Rahman will be composing five soundtracks for the album but the film may feature only one of it.
