The wait is over. RRR, one of the most highly anticipated big budget releases in Telugu, will be hitting the screens on July 30 in 2020. Directed by SS Rajamouli, the movie has Ram Charan Teja and Jr NTR playing the lead roles. At a press conference held on Thursday morning, the makers, putting an end to speculations, revealed the release date of the movie and also announced its stellar cast.

According to the makers, the movie has been made on a staggering budget of Rs 350-400 crore. Set in the 1920s, RRR will be a fictional story based on two legendary freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Koamaram Bheem.

“Set in the 1920s, the movie unveils both of them away from home (in Delhi) before they started fighting for the country. It is a pan India film painted on a larger canvas,” the makers said.

Acting opposite Ram Charan will be Alia Bhatt, making RRR the Bollywood actor's debut not just in Telugu cinema but in the entire southern film industry. The cast also includes Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, who will be seen in a powerful role in the movie. While Alia is awaiting the release of Kalank in Hindi after Gully Boy, Ajay Devgn was last seen in Raid in 2018.

It has also been revealed that British actor Daisy Edgar Jones will be essaying an important role in the film. Daisy is well-known for her role of Olivia in the British television series Cold Feet, a reboot of the 1997 series of the same name. She was a member of the National Youth Theatre in London, which boasts of several well-known alumni including, Daniel Craig, Orlando Bloom, Catherine Tate, Ben Kingsley among several others.

The movie will also have Tamil actor and director Samuthirakani playing a pivotal role.

While the makers have decided to retain the title RRR in all languages, the extended titles could differ.

“Regarding the expansion of the title, we are open to accepting suggestions from fans and public. If we get good suggestions, we will use them,” Rajamouli said during the meet.

RRR is being bankrolled by DVV Dhanayya under his banner DVV Entertainments. MM Keeravani is on board to compose the music. RRR is director SS Rajamouli’s first film after the massive success of the Baahubali films.
