Heavy rains are expected over several districts of Telangana and parts of Hyderabad on Wednesday, as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning on Tuesday.

"Heavy rain very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts Adilabad, Nirmal, Komurambheem, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Manchrial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Warangal Rural and Urban, Mahbubabad, Bhadradri, Kothagudem, Khammam, Suryapet and Nalgonda districts of Telangana," the one-day warning read.

According to reports, Hyderabad will witness generally cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thunderstorm.

“The rains would cover anywhere between 51-75 % of the districts. Also, intensity of the rains would be considerably high to the tune of one to six centimetres, over the next 24 hours," YK Reddy , director, IMD Hyderabad told the Times of India.

According to the IMD, an upper air cyclonic circulation was present over northeast Madhya Pradesh, with a trough from Chhattisgarh to South Tamil Nadum across Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

“This particular trough is extending up to Telangana. We predict there would be some showers over the state and parts of coastal AP. These rains will give the long awaited relief," Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist, Skymet, told TOI.

Stating that  moderate showers would continue over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for the next 24 to 48 hours, Skymet Weather reported that Telangana was rain deficient by 15%, as on August 7, while coastal Andhra Pradesh was rain surplus by 12%.

The IMD added that light to moderate rain and thundershowers very likely to occur at many places over Telangana on Thursday too.
