Actor-turned-director Rahul Ravindran is currently busy wielding the megaphone for Mamadhudu 2, which has Nagarjuna playing the main lead. While this film is in progress, reports have surface that the director’s next will feature the Akkineni brothers – Naga Chaitanya and Akhil Akkineni. It is true that several of the Akkineni fans are hoping to see them share the screen space in a movie and perhaps this is the reason for such reports surfacing time and again. It may be noted here that Akhil Akkineni played a cameo in Manam in which he got to share the screen space with Naga Chaitanya.

However, in an interview published on in.com, Rahul Ravindran has denied it outright by saying, “I do not know from where such rumours arise. I am completely focused on Manmadhudu 2 right now and only after the film is done, I will even think about my next. So, all these talks about my third film for the Akkineni brothers are false.”

Sources in the know say that Nagarjuna chose Rahul Ravindran to wield the megaphone for the sequel after he was impressed with the director’s debut directorial Chi La Sow. Those in the supporting roles include  Vennela Kishore, Rao Ramesh, Nassar, Lakshmi, Devadarshini, Jhansi, etc. Chaithan Bharadwaj is composing music for this romantic comedy. The film is being bankrolled jointly by Nag’s Manam enterprises and P Kiran’s Anandi Art Creations.

Manmadhudu, a 2002 rom com, had Akkineni Nagarjuna in the lead role and he had bankrolled the venture under his home banner Annapurna Studios. The film was a big hit in his career and after all these years, a sequel to it is being made. It may be noted here that Manmadhudu was directed by Vijaya Bhaskar with its story, screenplay and dialogues penned by the ace director Trivikram Srinivas.
