The Muni franchise from Raghava Lawrence is the most successful of his ventures till date. The actor-filmmaker is currently busy with the making of Kanchana 3 and reports are that the film may be out in theatres on December 21 this year to cash in on the long Christmas weekend.
The fourth installment of the Muni franchise, Kanchana 3 was announced several months ago and went on the floors in the last week of October 2017 and the shooting is progressing at a rapid pace now.
The first part, Muni was a massive success followed by its second and third part. Now, Muni 4: Kanchana 3, the fourth in the series is in the making. And this time, Raghava Lawrence has roped in the Bigg Boss fame Oviya to play the lead role along with Vedhika and newbie Nikitha.
A source close to the film unit is reported to have told the IANS earlier, “The film features three heroines. Oviya, Vedhika and a newcomer called Nikita have been signed. The project goes on the floors from the last week of October. Revealing further, the source went on to add, “It will be a sequel to Kanchana 2. It will star Lawrence in the lead and he will direct it as well. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be finalised. Sun Pictures will produce the film.”
The technical crew of the film includes S Thaman for music with Vetri and Sarvesh Murari for cinematography and Nivetha Joseph for costume designing. The film is being bankrolled by Kalanidhi Maran under his banner Sun Pictures.
The star cast includes Kovai Sarala, Manobala, Sriman, Devadarshini and Kabir Duhan Singh in supporting roles. With Kanchana 3’s shooting on from October last year, it is expected to be wrapped up soon.
The first part in the Muni franchise released in 2007. The second part was called Muni 2: Kanchana and third, which released in 2015, was titled Kanchana 2. All the three parts did extremely well at the ticket window and cemented Lawrencce’s position as a filmmaker too.
It is believed Kanchana 3 will be a sequel to Kanchana 2, and it will be made on a very high budget. According to reliable sources, it’ll be the most expensive film of the franchise.
