Raai Laxmi will be seen playing the female lead in a Telugu film after a long time. In an interview to Deccan Chronicle, she said, “In Telugu cinema, I mostly appear in music videos. But in Where is the Venkata Lakshmi, I am playing a female lead. It’s a light-hearted comedy and definitely entertaining.” More importantly, she plays the title role in this flick. Reports indicate that Raai Laxmi will be seen as a teacher named Venkata Lakshmi. The shooting of this film happened in Amalapuram in Andhra Pradesh and according to the actor it was a good experience working with the team.

On some of her previous films bombing at the box office, she said, “My previous Telugu films didn’t do well for various reasons. But success and failures are a part of life, and somewhere deep down, I believe that true satisfaction comes to an actor when people appreciate their performance, whether or not the film does well at the box office.”

Raai Laxmi made her debut in Tollywood with Kanchanamala Cable TV and then went on to star in Adhinayakudu in which she acted opposite N Balakrishna.

The actor is well-known for appearing in special songs in Telugu movies. “All my special songs are popular. Rathalu, in which I’ve acted opposite Chiranjeevi, has gained so much popularity that people have started referring to me (affectionately) as Rathalu,” she said in the interview. On her career in the Hindi film industry, she had this to say: “After Julie 2, I’ve been approached for similar roles, which I do not wish to pursue. Hindi movies can sometimes become all about skin-show, but in Telugu, you need to perform.”

Raai Laxmi was last seen in the Malayalam movie Oru Kuttanadan Blog. She has a couple of Tamil projects, Neeya 2 and Yaar, currently in the making and its release dates are likely to be announced soon.
