An 18-year-old migrant worker in a cement factory identified by the police as Abdul Khader was allegedly killed by three fellow rag pickers after being hit on the head by a heavy object on Thursday night in Bangalore.

A case of murder has been registered against three people —Harun, Jaylal and another unidentified person, all migrants from West Bengal--- in Kothanur police station in eastern Bangalore.

According to the father’s statement to the police, Abdul’s mother had asked Harun to return a sum of 100 rupees which he had allegedly borrowed. This led to a quarrel between these two after which Abdul rushed to protect his mother. In the ensuing turn of events, the other two accused joined Harun in assaulting Abdul. The victim’s family has been staying in Bangalore after coming from Myanmar one and a half years ago.

After Khader started bleeding profusely, he was taken by his attackers to a nursing home nearby from where he was referred to a bigger hospital that  declared him brought dead. The group then decided to abandon the body in a shed on government land, where all of them lived.

The accused are on the run. A postmortem will be done according to police officials.

The victim and the accused were all working in a concrete mixing factory in Hegde Nagar.
