At a recent meeting on Bengaluru’s infrastructure, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah reportedly lost his temper after two Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) chief engineers denied responsibility for potholes near Cauvery Theatre Junction. He apparently told them they are not fit for the job and that the mud used to fill potholes should be put into their mouth, according to local media.Siddaramaiah was questioning BBMP administrator TM Vijay Bhaskar and commissioner G Kumar Naik regarding the construction work at the Cauvery Theatre Junction. But the two chief engineers, BS Prasad and PS Ramesh, refused to take responsibility saying that the area did not fall under their jurisdiction. While the chief minister reprimanded the engineers, other senior officials kept quiet. Bangalore Mirror quoted him in Kannada apparently saying, "Nimma bayge mann haak beku, nivu yella mann haki gundi tumbta iddeera" which means, "Mud should be put into your mouths as you are filling potholes with mud".  He reportedly further said, "I know what calibre BBMP engineers have. Work inspectors have become chief engineers here; you guys are not fit to execute better roads in the city."Just last week in a meeting with top BBMP officials, Siddaramaiah promised tough action against officials who neglected their duty. He had even warned them of weekly surprise checks. The News Minute had reported last week about the ordeal citizens face due to potholes in the Central Business District of Bengaluru. Read it here: http://www.thenewsminute.com/article/average-bengalureans-guide-understanding-citys-potholes
