National Award Winner and producer G Dhananjayan is all set to make his debut as a director in an upcoming film. Touted to be a suspense thriller, the film is set to go on floors from January 2, 2020 and will be bankrolled under his banner, Creative Entertainers & Distributors.

Announcing the news, Dhananjayan tweeted: "Yes friends. Finally after associating with number of films in various capacities, taking the plunge as 'Director' for a film with the encouragement of @lalithagd. Had great deliberations on my Screenplay with "Karundhel' Rajesh, Dir.Stanly sir & Young team and locked it now”. 

Dhananjayan was quoted by Cinema Express, saying, “I have been planning to take the plunge for about two years now but was busy with other commitments. It will be a new age thriller film that will be fresh to the industry. We are yet to finalize one actor for the film. Once it is done, we will officially announce the crew members of the film," he says.

Dhananjayan who has authored four books is also the founder-dean of BOFTA Film Institute. He had also received the 'Doctor of Philosophy Degree' (Ph.D) for his thesis on the Indian Film Industry in March 2019.  He has also written a book about Tamil cinema titled The Best of Tamil Cinema: 1931 to 2010 in English. His second book was Pride of Tamil Cinema, released in 2014 which had went on to win the National Award (Special Mention) for Best Writing on Cinema for the year 2014.

He had recently bankrolled Jyothika's Kaatrin Mozhi the official remake of Vidhya Balan starrer Tumhari Sulu and Vijay Antony starrer Kolaikaran. He is currently bankrolling Sibiraj’s Kabadadaari directed by Pradeep Krishnamurthy. The film is said to be the official remake of the critically acclaimed Kannada film, Kavaludaari. The remake marks the reunion of Sibi and Pradeep, who had previously worked together in Sathya, a remake of Telugu film Kshanam. The makers have also roped in Sathyaraj to play a key role in the film.
