National award winning actor Priyamani has acted in five languages in her career so far and is going strong. The actor has been bagging some of the best roles and her latest has an attention grabbing title. Interestingly, she has acted in 56 films so far and the title of her upcoming Kannada film happens to be Doctor 56. It is touted to be a science fiction film.
It may be noted here Priyamani will be staging a comeback after a break with the Telugu flick Sirivennela. According to the sources close to the film, it is an apt project for her and the role has been tailor-made for her. Sirivennela is directed by Prakash Pulijala and produced by A N Bhasha and Rama Seetha under their banner. This film is currently in the post-production mode.
Looks like the actor has been impressed with the Doctor 56 script so much so that she has signed on the dotted line.
According to reports, she also has the Telugu flick Virata Parva 1992 in the pre-production stages right now. She will be sharing screen space with Rana Daggubati and Sai Pallavi in this film. The film has Rana playing a cop while Sai Pallavi will be seen as a Naxalite in love with the cop. The film is directed by Venu Udugula of Naadi Needi Oke Kadha fame. Tabu, Eswari Rao and Zarina Wahab have been roped in to play supporting roles. The shooting of this film is likely to begin in July or August and the groundwork is currently on.
The actor, who made her debut with the Tamil film Ullam, hogged the limelight with the role of Muthazhagu in Paruthiveeran. She went on to win the National Film Award for Best Actress (2006), Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress, Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Tamil (2007) and Vijay Award for Best Actress (2007) for her characterisation of Muthazhagu.
