A 40-year-old manager working at a private firm in HAL 2nd stage was on Thursday remanded to judicial custody for allegedly sexually harassing and threatening a woman colleague.

The 28-year-old victim alleged that she was sexually harassed by Kiran Raghav, her reporting manager, for the past few months. The Indiranagar police arrested the accused on Thursday based on the vicitim’s complaint and remanded him to judicial custody till July 7.

The woman also furnished text messages that Raghav sent her after she resisted his advances, threatening to ruin her career.

An investigating officer told Bangalore Mirror that Raghav took advantage of being her reporting manager and would ask her to stay back late in the office and would touch her inappropriately when forcibly taking her for meetings in his car.

"The man took advantage of being the reporting manager; he would send her personal messages on her cell phone. He would deliberately make her stay late in the office, he would forcibly take her in his car for meetings and would touch her inappropriately. He would ride pillion on her moped and molest her. He even asked her to bunk office to watch movies with him. When she resisted his sexual advances, Raghav allegedly threatened to ruin her career, and constantly kept sending her threatening messages," the officer was quoted as saying.

He further added that action would be taken against the firm if the mandatory sexual harassment committee is not in place.

The lady had moved in from Mumbai with her husband a few months back.
