Actor and filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran took to Twitter on June 18 to unveil the title and details about the cast of his second directorial venture. Titled BroDaddy, the film stars actor Mohanlal in the titular role. Touted to be an entertainer, the family drama will also feature actors Kalyani Priyadarshan, Meena, Murali Gopi, Prithviraj, Kaniha, Soubin and Lalu Alex in important roles. The project is bankrolled by Anthony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas and is likely to go on floors soon. Further details about the project are likely to be revealed by the makers later.

“My 2nd directorial. #BRODADDY will once again be headlined by The Lalettan @Mohanlal, with an ensemble cast including yours truly. Produced by #AntonyPerumbavoor (#AashirvadCinemas), a fun family drama that makes you smile, laugh & want to revisit. Rolling soon. Very soon,” Prithviraj tweeted on Friday.

The news comes days after Prithviraj revealed in a tweet that he has an idea for a new story and the movie is likely to be shot adhering to COVID-19 precautions and guidelines. Adding that his daughter, Alankrita, whom he fondly calls ‘Ally’, provided inspiration for his directorial comeback, Prithviraj shared the image of a small story which was probably jotted down by his daughter on the small electronic notepad seen in the picture. “Father and son lived in America. World War II happened and they shifted to a refugee camp. There they stayed for two years and the war ended. They went back home and lived happily ever after. The end,” the story on the image read.

Sharing the image, Prithviraj wrote, “This was the best storyline I heard during this lockdown. But since shooting this in the midst of a pandemic seemed an unlikely proposition, I chose another script. Yup. Thinking of getting behind the camera again. To do a film that I think can be pulled off under COVID restrictions and regulations. Details will follow soon #DirectionBugBites #Ally’sStories (sic).”
