Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial debut Lucifer starring Mohanlal was officially announced on Sunday. The film scripted by Murali Gopi and produced by Aashirwad Cinemas was delayed for almost seven months, as both Prithviraj and Mohanlal were busy with other projects.

In a press meet attended by Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Murali Gopi and producer Antony Perumbavoor on Sunday, it was officially announced that the pre-production works of the movie has begun.

“I have not yet decided whether I would act in the movie. We have not yet fleshed out the script. Once the script is complete then we will decide on other characters. After announcing the movie Lucifer last year, this is the first time I am meeting Mohanlal. I moved ahead with the project confidently as he had promised me to act in the movie through phone,” Prithviraj said in the press meet.

Mohanlal also said in the press meet that the delays were unforeseen and the project would take off now.

“I am happy they selected me. This may be the first time that a young generation actor will direct a movie in which a senior actor has been cast. I am excited. This combination of director and script writer is the specialty of this movie,” Mohanlal said.

Murali Gopi also said that the project is his dream come true.

The team has informed that the shoot will begin by May 2018.

Last year, there was news that Prithviraj would take over the movie that was supposed to be Rajesh Pillai’s directorial venture, following Pillai’s sudden death. The film was first announced in September 2016.
