Huge crowds on the sets of Lucifer shouting slogans last week caught the attention of movie buffs who wondered what it was all about. Putting an end to rumours that have been doing the rounds, the film’s director Prithivraj Sukumaran explained in an interaction with the media, “The reason for the jam-packed locations is not just because Lalettan is the hero of the film but the premise and scenes required such a setting and mood, especially for the scenes that we are shooting right now.” Apparently, Mohanlal plays a politician in Lucifer and the scenes that were being shot pertained to his role.

Lucifer is one of the most expected films in Mollywood as it marks the directorial debut of actor Prithviraj. The film has Mohanlal playing the lead role with Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Vivek Oberoi and Tovino Thomas in pivotal roles. Those in supporting roles include Kalabhavan Shajon, Sai Kumar, director Fazil, Sunil Sughatha, Thara Kalyan, Praveena Thomas and Mala Parvathy.

Reports indicate that Mohanlal’s character in the film is named Stephen Nadumballi and he will be playing a politician. The star will be appearing in a salt-and-pepper get-up. The film is bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

Prithviraj will take a break from acting to focus on his directorial debut. The shooting for this film, which began on July 18, will be done extensively at different locations in Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai and Kuttikkanam. The technical crew of the film includes Sujith Vasudevan for cinematography and Samjith for editing while Stephen Devassy will be in charge of the music composition. Veteran writer and actor Murali Gopy has penned the script for Lucifer which is touted to be a political thriller. Lucifer was a brainchild of late director Rajesh Pillai and Murali Gopy. They both wanted to make the film years ago. However, the project never saw the light of the day till now.
