Even before Alphonse Puthren made Premam and won over Tamil audiences, he had made an impact with his bilingual film Neram, which also featured Nivin Pauly. Although the film didn’t earn him wide recognition, it definitely helped him leave a mark and he returned with a bang with Premam, which had a terrific 200-day run in Chennai theatres.

While many would have expected Puthren to cash in on the highly successful Premam and make another Malayalam film, he has set his heart on directing a Tamil film and is currently busy casting for the same.

If sources in the industry are to go by, this project might be with Simbu. It was announced sometime last year that the duo is planning to join hands. It is believed that the project will kick off as soon as Simbu wraps up AAA, which is inching closer to completion.

The director confirmed that it would be a Tamil film. Calling for female actors who are also proficient in Carnatic music, director joked that since he has no knowledge about it, the actor should know. Aspiring actors need to apply with video recordings of their work and sending photographs alone wouldn’t suffice.

The director also posted on his Facebook page that he needs an Assistant Director who can read Tamil the way he writes. The director’s post on the Facebook page reads: “I’m going to start working on the third film which has nothing new in it :D :D :D :D :D. About the film cast and crew I will update later :).”

Alphonse, meanwhile, is busy locking the final draft of the script. Inside sources reveal that he might make the film as a bilingual.
