In an inhuman incident, a pregnant Kerala woman was dragged out of her car and kicked in the stomach by a CPI (M) man and his friends – all because her car allegedly brushed against theirs. The incident took place on Thursday night in Kollam, Kerala.

CPI (M) panchayat member Antonio Williams, accompanied by his friends, was travelling by car on Thursday night. Antonio and his friends were reportedly drunk.

On the way, they got into an altercation with a couple in another car. The couple’s car reportedly brushed against Antonio’s, and the angry CPI (M) man and his friends decided to ‘settle’ the dispute with violence.

They got down from the car, dragged the woman out of the car she was travelling in with her husband, and kicked her in the stomach. According to the police, Antonio and his friends were under the influence of alcohol at the time.

The woman, who is one-month pregnant, was on her way for a routine checkup along with her husband.

“There were many people, and one of them got the car door and dragged me out and kicked me in my stomach. I fell because of the pain,” the pregnant woman told Manorama.

The police later took the CPI (M) leader and his friends into custody with the help of locals. The men, after being taken into the custody, also attacked and injured two policemen. According to the police, they had also vandalized the police station.

In a video published by Manorama, Antonio can be seen shouting ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ and creating a ruckus. The channel also reported that Antonio had threatened the police saying that the state is ruled by CPI (M).

Kollam West SHO informed TNM that there were six people in the car, and three people have been arrested, including the CPI (M) leader. The accused were remanded in custody and will be taken to the court on Friday afternoon, he added.

The Kollam Police have registered a case under IPC section 332 and 353 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty).
