Actor-filmmaker Prabhudeva made his debut as a producer with 2016 Tamil horror comedy Devi, in which he played the titular role alongside Tamannaah Bhatia. His second production venture was Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swami starrer Bogan.
He had also produced Priyadarshan’s critically-acclaimed Sila Samayangalil, which is still struggling to have a theatrical release. Reports have emerged that he’s all set to team up with actor Santhanam for a new project, which is most likely to be directed by Rajesh M. Rumours are rife that Prabhudeva will bankroll the project along with Isari Ganesh under the banner of Prabhudeva Studios.
While it’s already known that Santhanam and Rajesh have a film in the offing, it is yet unknown when it might materialize. Apparently, Sri Thenandal Studios was supposed to bankroll the project originally.
For reasons unknown, the film never took off and months after it was rumoured to be shelved, latest reports hint that Prabhudeva has taken over the reins of the project. Rajesh is known for successful films such as SMS, Boss Engira Bhaskaran and OKOK and in all these films Santhanam had a pivotal role in the overall success.
Even as we await official confirmation regarding this collaboration, Santhanam is busy shooting for Sequel of horror comedy Dhilukku Dhuddu with director Rambala which released in 2016.
The project was launched in Hyderabad last Thursday, with its lead pairs, Santhanam and Deepti Sati. Santhanam and Ram Bala have a good rapport ever since they worked together in Lollu Sabha. Deepak Kumar Pathy who was the cinematographer for the first instalment will be working on this sequel too.
Following the failure of his recent outings, Santhanam has bet big on this project as his collaboration with Rambala last time hit the bull’s eye. It has to be seen if they can succeed as a pair once again.
