Director Yogaraj Bhat and producer Mahesh Danannavar have plans to go ahead with Gaalipata 2, report sources. The duo met choreographer-director-actor Prabhu Deva recently and posted a pic of them together. This has raised the speculation that Prabhu Deva may join the star cast of Gaalipata 2.

Ganesh, Diganth, Pawan Kumar and Anant Nag are already on board this project and with the inclusion of Prabhu Deva, it will just get bigger.

Gaalipata 2 is the sequel to the hit movie Gaalipata, a romantic comedy written and directed by Yogaraj Bhat which hit the marquee in 2008. Ganesh, Anant Nag, Rajesh Krishnan, Diganth, Daisy Bopanna, Neethu and Bhavana Rao played pivotal roles in this flick.

The film was bankrolled by Suryaprakash Rao under the banner SPR Entertainment. The technical crew of this film included R Rathnavelu for cinematography, Suresh Urs for editing and V Harikrishna for composing the background score and soundtrack. Gaalipata was the first film in Sandalwood to be shot in the Super 35 format.

The film released to packed houses on January 18, 2008 and was critically acclaimed. It also did well commercially and completed a 175-day run at the box-office. It went on to win three Filmfare Awards South – Best Actor (Ganesh), Best Music Director (Harikrishna) and Best Lyricist (Jayant Kaikini).

While Gaalipata 2 is in progress, Prabhu Deva is busy directing Dabangg 3, an action film produced jointly by Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan under their respective banners of Salman Khan Films and Arbaaz Khan Productions. The film is a sequel to the 2012 film Dabangg 2 and the third installment in the Dabangg film series. Written by Dilip Shukla, it stars Salman Khan, Sudeep, Sonakshi Sinha, Arbaaz Khan and Mahie Gill.

Meanwhile, for the first time in his career, Prabhu Deva will be seen playing a police officer in Pon Manickavel. The film, which is in the post-production stage, is expected to hit the screens later this year. Directed by AC Mugilan Chellappan, the film will have Nivetha Pethuraj starring opposite Prabhu Deva. Bankrolled by Nemichand Jhabak and Hitesh Jhabak under their banner Jhabak Movies, the flick will have music by D Imman, this being the first time he is composing music for a Prabhu Deva starrer. KG Venkatesh, who wielded the camera for Sathuranga Vettai, is the cinematographer for this flick with T Shivanandeeswaran of Theeran Adhigaram Ondru fame roped in for editing.
