Prabhas starrer 'Adipurush' welcomes Kriti Sanon and Sunny Singh to cast

The makers of Om Raut’s upcoming mythological film Adipurush with Prabhas in the lead, took to social media to announce and welcome actors Kriti Sanon and Sunny Singh to the cast. “Welcoming @kritisanonand @mesunnysingh to the #Adipurush family,” filmmaker Om Raut’s tweet read.  

Kriti Sanon too shared the update with fans through Twitter and thanked the makers of Adipurush. Calling it one of her special journeys, the actor wrote, “A new journey begins.. One of my most special ones.. overwhelmed to be a part of #Adipurush.” 

Photos from the sets were shared on social media. Kriti is seen wearing a pink and while floral suit while Prabhas sports a new look with his twirled moustache and orange kurta. Sunny is seen wearing a golden kurta.  

The mythological drama Is written and directed by filmmaker Om Raut, who predominantly works in Hindi and Marathi films. The film is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana. Kriti has been roped in to play the role of Sita, while Prabhas will be essaying the role of Lord Ram. Saif Ali Khan plays the role of Lankesh, another name for Ravana. Sunny is likely to play the role of Lakshman. Adipurush is simultaneously being shot in Hindi and Telugu languages. It is also being dubbed in Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.

The production work for the film commenced on 2 February this year and it is slated for theatrical release on August 11.  

Adipurush is bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar under the banner of T- Series and Retrophiles. The film marks Prabhas’s third collaboration with Bhushan after Saaho and Radhe Shyam. The technical crew of the big- budget outing comprises Kharthik Palani for cinematography, Apurva Motiwale and Ashish Mhatre for editing.  

Prabhas has several projects in the pipeline. He will be seen in Prashant Neel’s Salaar where he will be sharing the screen with Shruti Haasan. He will play a pivotal role in Nag Ashwin’s upcoming outing alongside Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan. The Prabhas and Pooja Hegde starrer Radhe Shyam is scheduled to hit the big screen on July 30. The 41-year-old actor was last seen in action- thriller Saaho.
