Director Puri Jagannadh’s son Puri Akash is currently busy with the Telugu flick Romantic. A schedule of this film was wrapped up in Goa recently and we hear that popular television host DD aka Divyadarshini is playing an important role in it. She has acted in a few Tamil films such as Power Paandi, Saroja and Nala Damayanthi so far and is also a part of Gautham Menon’s upcoming film Dhruva Natchathiram.

With Romantic, DD will be making her acting debut in the Telugu film industry. Before hogging the limelight as a popular TV host, DD starred in films. DD made her acting debut as a child actor in the Malayalam film Shubhayathra in 1990. She has regularly been a host for shows on Vijay TV and in 2014, began hosting ‘Koffee with DD’, her own show.

Last seen playing anchor-cum-producer in GV Prakash’s Sarvam Thaala Mayam, directed by Rajiv Menon, DD’s next Tamil film will be Gautham Menon's Dhruva Natchathiram. In this film she will be seen sharing the screen space with Vikram, Ritu Varma and Aishwarya Rajesh. The production of Dhruva Natchathiram began a couple of years ago and to date has been shot in seven countries. She also did a small role in actor Dhanush's first directorial venture Pa Paandi in which she was seen playing Revathy's daughter.

Romantic, on the other hand, is directed by Anil Paduri and has been written by Puri Akash’s father Puri Jagannadh. Ketika Sharma, a newbie, will be sharing the screen space with Akash in Romantic. The film’s star cast also includes Mandira Bedi in a pivotal role.  It may be noted here that though Mandira has acted in several Hindi films, Romantic will be her second Telugu flick. Her maiden Tollywood film will be the Prabhas starrer Saaho, which is currently under progress.
