Kalidas Jayaram’s debut flick Poomaram will hit the silver screens on March 15th, confirm sources. The film’s release has been put off several times due to various reasons. However, everything is fine now with the release date set to be March 15th.

The shooting of this film began in Ernakulam a couple of years ago and finally it is all set for release tomorrow. Directed by Abrid Shine who has also penned the film, Poomaram is produced jointly by Paul Varghese and Abrid Shine under the banner Dr Paul Entertainment. The story centered around Kalidas Jayaram is about the campus life of a teenager of who is interested in politics but has an artistic bent of mind.

As he awaits release of Poomaram, Kalidas was quoted by Manorama Online saying, “When I came into movies, my father was already busy with a handful of films and my mother had quit acting. When I was doing Poomaram my mother told, ‘you have a roof above your head and food on your table. You have everything to live comfortably. So when you choose a movie, money should not be a priority. You should not see cinema as a business.”

The star cast also includes veterans such as Kunchacko Boban, Meera Jasmine and Manju Warrier playing pivotal roles. The film which was shot in different colleges in Kerala has covered the MG University Youth Festival in 2017 as the background for the movie.

The technical crew of Poomaram includes Faisal Razi and Gireesh Kuttan composing music for the soundtrack while Gopi Sundar had done the background score. Gnaanam has wielded the camera for this venture while Athul took charge at the editing table to edit the film.

Kalidas made his acting debut as a child artiste with the Malayalam movie Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal in 2000 and won the National Film Award – Best Child Artist, Kerala State Film Award – Best Child Artist and the Asianet Film Award – Best Child Artist in 2003 for his performance in Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum.

With Poomaram hitting the silver screens tomorrow, the young actor will be moving over to the Alphonse Puthren directorial which he had signed up a few weeks ago. According to reports, Kalidas will be sharing screen space with Siddharth in this film. Music composer Rajesh Murugesan and cinematographer Anand C Chandran have been roped in for this project.

It may be mentioned here that the director has two hits – Neram and Premam – to his credit to date and is hopeful of scoring a hat trick.
