Akhil Akkineni’s film with Bommarilu Bhaskar was announced some months ago but the team was unable to find a suitable heroine. Several names including Rashmika Mandanna and Sai Pallavi were in the fray to pair up with Akhil but news has now emerged that Pooja Hegde has been signed up.

Reports are that it will be a strong character and with the director known to carve out female-centric roles for his heroines right from his debut movie, expectations are high on this flick.

This untitled film is produced by Bunny Vas. Touted to be a rom-com, the film’s star cast and crew are expected to be revealed officially in a couple of weeks. On the genre of this film, we hear that it will be an emotional family drama. Akhil reportedly agreed to do this project after the director convinced him with the strong storyline line, say sources. Incidentally, Akhil had starred in three films so far but none of them made a big impact at the box office.

Meanwhile, Pooja Hegde awaits the release of Valmiki, the Telugu remake of Tamil blockbuster hit Jigarthanda. The film has Varun Tej reprising the role done by Bobby Simha in Tamil. Harish Shankar is wielding the megaphone for this remake. She is also roped in for Allu Arjun's next Ala Vaikuntapuramlo. The shooting of this film, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, is progressing well with its release scheduled for early next year.

Akhil’s last release was Mr Majnu, which was directed by Venky Atluri and bankrolled by BVSN Prasad under his banner Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra. Nidhi Agarwal plays Akhil’s love interest in the film and the star cast also including Izabelle Leite, Naga Babu, Subbaraju, Rao Ramesh, Jayaprakash, Pavitra Lokesh, Sithara, Priyadarshi Pullikonda, Vidyullekha Raman and Ro Ashika.
