The News Minute | October 15, 2014 | 11.06 pm ISTThe Karnataka High Court has issued notices to the state government after hearing a Public Interest Litigation that sought the prosecution of “deviant, errant officers” whose actions resulted in the death of a child in a open drain in Bangalore.According to a report in The Hindu, the PIL was filed by BJP Rajya Sabha member Rajeev Chandrashekar and Namma Bengaluru Foundation who urged the High Court to direct the prosecution of “deviant, errant officers, who have failed in exercise of their statutory duties as a result of which open drains and public infrastructure have turned into death traps, resulting in the loss of lives of citizens”.The petitioners also said that despite several instances in the past, the BBMP had not acted in interests of the safety of the people.
