Pictures of Mohanlal hitting the gym surfaced online recently, creating a buzz. We hear that the Malayalam star is working hard to fit into the role he plays in Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham.  The film is based on the true life of the naval warrior Kunjali Marakkar IV, who is the most popular of the Marakkars and Mohanlal plays the role. Following this, the film will have extensive sea warfare sequences which will be its highlight.

Marakkar will have Mohanlal’s son Pranav making a cameo appearance. If reports are true, the youngster could be seen as the younger version of Marakkar. Further, Priyadarshan’s daughter Kalyani, who made her acting debut in a Tollywood film, will be seen doing a role in the film and it will mark her debut in the Malayalam film industry.

This period film also has Prabhu, Suneil Shetty, Siddique, Ashok Selvan, Manju Warrier, Arjun Sarja, Mukesh and Keerthy Suresh in pivotal roles. The film will be produced jointly by Antony Perumbavoor, Santhosh T Kuruvilla and CJ Roy under their respective banners in a budget costing Rs 100 crore.

Looks of the actors have been revealed one after another, the latest being Manju Warrier’s, who plays Zubaida in the film.

Though the shooting of Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham began in 2018 and will be wrapped up in April 2019, its release is scheduled to happen in 2020. The long time frame needed for its release post shooting is due to the large amount of graphics it requires.

The shooting of this magnum opus is currently on at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad and progressing well. Grand sets have been erected for the shooting and a major portion of the film will be shot here, report sources. National Award winning art director Sabu Cyril has worked on the sets.
