Right from the time Pawan Kalyan had announced his film Agnyaathavaasi with director Trivikram Srinivas, there had been talks that the film would shatter the box office record held by his brother and ‘mega star’ Chiranjeevi with his comeback film Khaidi No 150.

The film released to packed houses last year for Sankranti and created a record by collecting over Rs 100 crore at the box office. Having made his comeback as a hero after a decade, Chiranjeevi proved that this ‘mega star’ status was intact.

While there were expectations that Pawan Kalyan’s Agnyaathavaasi will break this record, looks like it will not be so. The film released amidst a lot of expectations but the mixed reviews aren’t working in its favour. Interestingly, Agnyaathavaasi’s pre-release business was around Rs. 125 crore, which created the expectations that it would fare well at the box office.

Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, Pawan Kalyan's landmark 25th film stars Keerthy Suresh as Pawan Kalyan’s female lead. The star cast is impressive with Bollywood actor Boman Irani playing an important role with Kushboo, Adhi Pinisetty, Anu Emmanuel, Tanikella Bharani, Parag Tyagi, Rao Ramesh, Sampath Raj, Murali Sharma, and Indraja also included to the star cast.

Anirudh Ravichander had composed music for this flick and it happens to be his debut in the Telugu film industry.

V Manikandan had cranked the camera and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao had edited the film. It was produced by S Radhakrishna under his banner Haarika and Haasini Creations on a huge budget.

The film premiered in the US and released worldwide on January 10. Even with mixed reviews, Agnyaathavaasi has beaten the records of Katamarayudu and Sardaar Gabbar Singh, which minted Rs 28.10 crore gross and Rs 26.90 crore gross, respectively, at the AP/T box office on their first day.
