In a Twitter post, Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan has appealed to his fans to stop the online abuse against YSR Congress Party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy and his sister YS Sharmila.

The actor appealed his supporters to end the controversy and refrain from making personal remarks against women members of Jagan’s family.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday, the actor-politician wrote, “My appeal to all. It has come to my notice that several of you are upset with the personal remarks made by Jaganmohan Reddy recently. I won’t get into anybody’s personal life, that too for political reasons, definitely not. I criticize other parties only on their public policies, but I don’t have personal differences with anyone. In this regard, I appeal all of you to all not to drag Jaganmohan Reddy, his family members or women members of his house into this controversy. I humbly request to end this controversy.”

On Tuesday, the YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy launched a personal attack on Pawan Kalyan, claiming that the latter lacks values. He went on to question his marriage and morality.

Jagan had said, “He speaks about values… where does he have values? He has four wives. He changes them as if changing new cars every four or five years. Had we done the same thing, what will people say? Wouldn’t they have called us ‘nitya pellikoduku’ and put us behind bars. Isn’t it polygamy?”

Dismissing the actor as a politician worth paying heed to, Jagan said, “It is our karma that we are forced to listen to people like Pawan Kalyan. For four years, the same man along with Chandrababu Naidu and BJP did Kaapuram (a Telugu euphemism for a couple having a marital relationship). Now, six months before elections, he’s coming out and saying that he did a mistake and claiming that he’s a Pathivratha (virtuous wife).”

Agitated over this, a few fans of the actor, went on a rampage to question the morality of Jagan’s sister and made several misogynistic comments.

Following the demise of late YS Rajasekhar Reddy in 2009, in the absence of Jagan, who was imprisoned on corruption charges, Sharmila was leading the party. She was active in politics and even did a 3,000 km padayatra, like her father, to reach out to people. However, after Jagan’s release, Sharmila went into complete oblivion.
