Large parts of southwest Bengaluru, including areas such as Mysore Bank Colony, Srinivasa Nagar and 6th Block of Phase II of Viswabharathy Layout, will face a power cut from 10.30 am to 5pm on Thursday. The power cut will also affect some areas of Banashankari Stage III and the areas surrounding PES Degree College.
The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company announced that these areas will face outages due to the repair and revamp of cable work. This is part of the routine cable work done by BESCOM.
On Tuesday, too the utility supplier had carried out similar works in many parts of the city in a phased manner. The areas affected included Yeshwantpur, Hennur and Kammanahalli Main Road.
Similar cable work was also carried out in Shobha Apartment, Bili Shivalaya, Agara, Vaddarapalya and surrounding areas.
With rains lashing in Bengaluru since September 14, residents across the city have been facing intermittent power cuts, with no intimation from the electricity supply board. Officials say that with more rain expected this week, the powercuts will continue and will depend on local conditions in each area.
According to authorities, there is surplus power and the power cuts are due to maintenance work, not due to load shedding.
