The critically acclaimed director Vetrimaaran is currently busy with the post-production work of Asuran that has Dhanush playing the lead role. With Asuran in progress, reports have surfaced in the internet that Vetrimaaran’s next may feature the comedian 'Parotta' Soori as the main lead. The project will be bankrolled by Elred Kumar’s RS Infotainment. There is no official confirmation on the same yet.

The commencement of the Dhanush starrer Asuran has the movie buffs excited for various reasons. The first and foremost reason being Dhanush and director Vetrimaaran teaming after the success of Vada Chennai.

Also, one of their previous films together, Aadukalam earned Vetrimaran and Dhanush the National Award for best actor and best director respectively. Asuran will mark the debut of the Malayalam actor Manju Warrier in Tamil. She will be seen in a pivotal role in the film.

Besides, Manju Warrier, the star cast of this film also includes veteran actor Pasupathi. Dhanush and Pasupathi had shared the screen space in Sullan in the year 2004 and they are teaming up for a movie after 15 years now.

The technical crew of Asuran includes GV Prakash Kumar for music, Velraj for cinematography and Vivek Harshan for editing. The film is being bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Dhanu under his banner V Creations.

The star cast also has Balaji Shaktivel in an important role and reports are that he will be seen as the baddie. Asuran is reportedly adapted from Tamil writer Poomani's novel titled Vekkai. Though the project was announced several months ago, the shooting began on the Republic Day, January 26 this year.

Meanwhile, the director is also preparing for the sequel to the gangster drama Vada Chennai 2 and a web series Rajan Vagaira. Recently there were reports circulating on social media that Vada Chennai 2 has been shelved. Refuting to rumors, Dhanush wrote on Twitter, “Don’t know what caused this confusion among my fans. Vada Chennai part 2 is very much on, Unless you see any official confirmation from my Twitter handle please do not believe in rumors regarding any project of mine. Thank you. Love you.”
