The News Minute | December 3, 2014 | 09.10 am IST | Updated 09:55 amAfter parents of students of a school in Chennai found themselves outside a closed school on Tuesday after it declared a holiday following a late night party the previous night, around 100 parents gathered outside its premises on Wednesday morning. According to many parents, St John’s Senior Secondary School in Mandaveli had not intimated them about the holiday, something that the school claimed to have done via bulk SMS, reported The New Indian Express. On Wednesday morning, around 100 parents of students gathered at the school in protest over the incident. The police was present at the scene. The party which ended at eleven pm on Monday night was to celebrate the school correspondent’s birthday and Thanksgiving claimed some parents. According to a parent, the parents had been asked by the school not to approach the media. A school administrative representative said that the information had been conveyed once the principal had declared a holiday at nine pm the previous day, according to the report. Schools are allowed to declare holidays by rules, however the miscommunication has irked parents, said the report.
