The parents and guardians of the 73 students expelled by IIT Roorkee are now planning on moving court or approaching the Union Ministry of Human Resource for justice after the college refused to revoke the expulsions.According to an NDTV report, the parents of the concerned students were left disappointed after senior officials of the college including its director and heads of department decided in a meeting on Saturday that they would not overturn the decision.Seventy-three students had been expelled by the college earlier this week that scored below 5 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) points in their second semester examinations. The students and their parents are contemplating action contending that the institute has not done enough for their wards and that the institution’s website does not prescribe such action in these circumstances.  “All we want is that our children should be given another chance to improve themselves so that their future is not ruined,” said Santosh, one of the many parents who are staging a dharna outside the institute’s campus.“They may have neglected their studies and fared badly at one exam but given another chance they could improve themselves,” Mahendra Singh, the father of an expelled student was quoted as saying.A report in The Times of India adds that close to 15 students reached Nainital along with their parents on Saturday evening to file a petition with the High Court. They were accompanied by their parents and reportedly consulted with their lawyer on the legal aspects of the matter and the prospects of filing a petition.
