Oppo launches full-screen Oppo A83 in India with AI beauty recognition technology

Oppo has launched its next smartphone, the Oppo A83 in the Indian market. It’s a dual SIM phone and is expected to be packed with features and offered at a very attractive price point compared to its features. Read on for more details.

The Oppo A83 will sport a 5.7-inch HD display, with the screen resolution reading 720x1440pixels. The display is LCD type and has an aspect ration of 18:9, offering full screen as real estate to the user. Oppo claims that the phone’s design is inspired by the Curve Design Philosophy.

The octa-core processor is expected to deliver a strong 2.5GHz clocking speed, though the make and number of the processor is not yet clear. The RAM will be 4GB and the internal memory storage 32GB. An additional 256GB in storage can be added through a microSD card.

Oppo lays a lot of emphasis on the optics section on all its smartphone models and in the new Oppo A83, there will be a 13MP rear sensor supported by a LED flash and the front selfie camera will be of 8MP. Oppo has added a AI based beauty software to enhance the quality of the images clicked with the selfie camera. According to them, the AI Beauty recognition technology can ‘classify, recognise and beautify’ the portrait photographs in three aspects: skin colour and texture, gender and age.

Android Nougat version 7.1 will be the OS in this phone, with Color OS 3.2 skin on the top. A 3180mAh battery rounds off the hardware specs.

The phone has a face recognition technology that can unlock the phone in 0.18 seconds according to Oppo. The connectivity suite will be complete and will include 4G VoLTE.

Being issued in two colours, black and gold, the Oppo A83 will be sold in India at Rs 13,990 and will be available both online and offline, with effect from January 20.
