Friends and family members of a techie who went missing on December 18 have launched an online campaign to trace him. Kumar Ajitabh, who hails from Patna had left his home at 6:30 pm on the fateful day to meet a prospective car buyer whom he had met on the online property portal OLX. He has not been seen since then.

On Sunday, police took Kumar’s roommate to Gunjur near Varthur, where Kumar’s cellphone was tracked. His school and collegemates, along with his father, have launched an online campaign seeking public help in tracing him. They are using the hashtag #findajitabh on various social media platforms.

The missing techie worked at British Telecom and friends said that he had put up a car on sale on the online marketplace OLX. However, there has been no trace of Kumar or his vehicle and his phone is also switched off since last Monday. Friends of Kumar said that he was last active on WhatsApp around the same time as his disappearance and that his mobile phone was near Gunjur in Whitefield.

"We are investigating all angles. We have sought data from the online classified portal as well. We have obtained his call record details as well," NDTV quoted a police officer who is the part of the investigation.

Kumar moved to Bengaluru in 2010 and has since been staying with childhood friend Ravi in Whitefield. He wanted to sell his car to join the Indian Institiute of Management (IIM) in 2018 as he had passed the interview. "He had got through for an executive MBA program at IIM (Indian Institute of Management), Kolkata. He had to pay around Rs 5 lakh by the 20th and we guess that's why he had put up his car for sale to fund his fee. When he left home, he was in casual wear and didn't tell anyone where he was going," Ravi said speaking to AsianAge.

Friends say that he was on his way to sell his Grey Maruti CIAZ AMT VXI with registration number KA-03-NA-1751 when he left home on December 18.
