Elizabeth Lauten, spokeswoman for the Republican Stephen Fincher of Tennessee, is in the line of fire on social media with #FireElizabethLauten trending on Twitter.

Lauten posted a long tirade against the daughters of the Democrat US President Barack Obama on Facebook. While criticizing Malia and Sasha Obama on the social networking site, she advised the girls, 16 and 13 respectively, with –“try showing a little class. At least respect the part you play”.

The televised event with the President giving two Thanksgiving turkeys a “pardon” didn’t seem to interest the two sisters, both in the Time magazine’s top 25 influential teens of the year. They got some flak on social media but Lauten’s critique really set the cat amongst the pigeons.

“Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar” was Lauten’s take on the girls’ relatively short skirts’ while also accusing them of falling short in the “good role model” department.

Lauten later deleted the post as it soon started to draw ire on social media. She posted an apology in its place which she says came about due to reflection and “after many hours of prayer”.
