As Telangana celebrates the completion of a year since its formation on June 2, a survey was taken to know how satisfied its people are with the KCR government. Out of the 37,100 people that took part in the research, 67% of people believe that the situation of farmers is poor and 46% of people feel that the performance of the TRS ministers has been average.In a survey conducted by Express Television in Hyderabad as well as the other nine districts, the people’s view on the KCR government so far was revealed. In the survey, unemployment, with 40%, tops the list of issues that needs to immediately be tackled by the government. R. Krishnaiah, the president of the National Backward Classes Welfare Association, said that lakhs of youth are jobless and questioned the TRS government's plans to implement Mission Katatiya when the engineer posts are vacant in various departments including the Irrigation department, a report in The New Indian Express adds.“Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) came into power promising one job for each home. But it has not issued a single job notification even after one year in power,” he stated.20% of the people surveyed also wanted the government to focus on farmer suicides, which is rising at an appalling rate. Since June 2, 2014, more than 500 farmers have committed suicide in Telangana, but the official numbers on this are below 100, reports Livemint. Warangal is the worse hit district with 124 suicides, followed by Nalgonda with 115 suicides and Medak, which is also the Chief Minister’s constituency, with 86 suicides.The remaining 30% want the government to address issues like water, sanitation, agriculture, etc.According to a report by the Times of India, a UNICEF funded research conducted by the Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) found that out of the 84 lakh households in Telangana, 38.5 lakh householders do not have access to piped water. The same number of people, who account for 48% of the 84 lakh households do not have access to toilets within their premises.To meet the electricity requirements throughout the summer season, the Telangana chief minister issued Rs 350 crore in April, to resolve any contingency of power purchases, notes the Business Standard. Telangana is a power deficit state but power is in constant demand due to the number of industries present.The survey also recorded that 44% of people agree that power is the KCR government’s biggest achievement so far while 26% approve that it is Mission Kakatiya.Mission Kakatiya is the government’s initiative to restore 45,000 tanks in Telangana in its aim to revive the rural economy. Irrigation Minister, Harish Rao, who is also rated as the top ministers of the KCR government in the survey (44%), told The Hindu that Mission Kakatiya and irrigation projects are sure to give the agricultural sector a boost.On being asked which party would get their vote if elections were to be held today, 61% said that they would vote for TRS while 22% agreed to vote for Congress.The TRS government has only completed a year in power and the results from the survey indicate that 79% of the people are satisfied with its performance with 66% believing that this government can fulfil its poll promises in the remaining tenure.Read - A timeline of events that led to the formation of Telangana
