In upcoming Tamil crime thriller Vikram Vedha, actors Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi have come together for the first time. Apparently, the actors had not known each other really well prior to the shoot of the film and it was only on the sets that they broke the ice and bonded.
In the film, directed by Pushkar-Gayatri, Madhavan plays an encounter cop while Vijay Sethupathi plays a gangster. The directors had admitted in a recent press meet that the lead characters of the film are based on Vikram and Betaal from popular folklore and that they’ve given the story a contemporary twist.
Talking about the experience of sharing screen space with Vijay Sethupathi, Madhavan told Deccan Chronicle, “After Kamal Haasan sir, Vijay Sethupathi is one of the most intelligent actors I have worked with. After the shooting began, I was wondering how to compete with him on-screen. It was a great honour to work with him. We bonded well and shared a great relationship. Yet another thing I noticed was his approach towards his fans. He is friendly with all those who visit the sets and takes selfies with them. He is so casual — sits and eats along with everyone! In my case, if I come to the sets, my full concentration would be on my work.”
He went on to add that they went from total strangers to cigarette buddies (while clarifying that he doesn't endorse smoking) by the end of the shoot. Madhavan also said he would love to work with Sethupathi again if another exciting opportunity comes along.
