The odds are apparently one in a million. But Catherine Howarth, a 32 year old black mother has beaten all odds by giving birth to a baby who appears to be of a different race reports the Dailymail UK.
Catherine Howarth, 32, from Milton Keynes, is black and her family hails from Nigeria, but her son Jonah has pale skin.
Catherine told the Sunday Mirror: ‘The midwife looked at me and looked back down at Jonah and then at me again and couldn’t believe it.'
Doctors say this could be because Catherine has a recessive gene. Milton’s husband, Richard was apparently equally shocked at seeing his child, but was happy the infant was safe as the umbilical cord had tangled around Jonah's neck during delivery.
