A day after Kudligi Deputy Superintendent of Police Anupama Shenoy’s resignation, she took to Facebook in what seems like a ‘rebellion’ of sorts.

Of the two photos Shenoy posted on Facebook on Sunday, one of them read: “When injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty”.

Shenoy resigned from her post on Saturday citing personal reasons, but there seems to be no dearth in suspicions that she resigned owing to pressure from the liquor mafia.

The Times of India reports that Shenoy was under pressure from the liquor lobby reportedly operating with the help the support of local politicians, police and excise officials. A group of people staged protests against Shenoy last week, for taking three persons into preventive detention and producing them before the taluk magistrate.

Police sources told TOI that Shenoy had instructed a liquor shop owner not to go ahead with extension work, which would block the road leading to Ambedkar Bhavan, failing of which, she arrested the owner and two others.

Shenoy’s parents and younger brother have been quoted as saying that she resigned due to pressure from liquor lobby, senior and subordinate officials for taking action against illegal liquor.
