ZTE’s Nubia Z17 has already been in the news in the recent past with its specifications leaks and other stories. The latest flagship from ZTE is slated to hit the market come June 1 and the news that is causing some stir in the market is that the phone might be the first ever smartphone in the world to be sporting the Quick Charge 4.0 version feature in it. This could be a game changer, since the expectation is that the phone could get charged from 0 to 50% in just 5 minutes. Can you beat it?

The interesting part is the technology was already made public by Qualcomm in November 2016 itself and it was also indicated that the Quick Charge 4.0 will be compatible only with the chip maker’s latest release Snapdragon 835.

One would have therefore logically expected that the Samsung Galaxy S8 would have come with this facility since it was the first device that had the processor fitted in it. In fact, many other smartphone companies had to alter their launch plans since Samsung had virtually blocked the 835-processor inventory for its flagship phones. But the S8 and S8 Plus have been released with the 15W QC 2.0 fast charge.

Interestingly, two other phones, the Xiaomi Mi 6 and the Sony Xperia XZ Premium are also powered by the same Snapdragon 835 CPU, but they have only the Quick Charge 3.0 to boast of. That is why it can be claimed that on June 1, the ZTE Nubia Z17 will become the first ever smartphone that will boast of a battery charging facility supported by Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0.

According to the details available, mostly through a post by the company itself, Quick Charge 4.0 will not only deliver a much faster charging option, but it will also do it in a much cooler environment.

To put this in perspective, it is said that the Quick Charge 4.0 will be 20% faster and 30% more efficient than Quick Charge 3.0 and more importantly it will do it at a temperature which is 5% cooler than Quick Charge 3.0. As already mentioned earlier, the ZTE Nubia Z17’s 3000mAh battery can be charged from scratch to 50% in just five minutes.
