If there was any doubt about whether there is dissent in the BJP’s Karnataka wing, Union Minister Sadananda Gowda has dispelled it.

Confirming that there was disagreeing between the party’s state president BS Yeddyurappa, and the Leader of Opposition in the Vidhana Parishad KS Eshwarappa, the Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation expressed confidence that all issues will be sorted out.

Talking to mediapersons at the BJP’s state-level meet held in Kalburgi on Saturday, the Minister said that the party’s core committee was looking into the issue.

“It is true that there are differences between party leaders. All leaders across the state and even those at the national level have been informed about the differences between the party leaders. I am sure that these issues will be sorted out within the party,” he said.

Playing down the unrest within the party, Sadananda Gowda said that multiple rounds of talks among party leaders have been held to discuss the issue.

“This level of dissent is miniscule when compared to the situation when I was the party’s state President. The BJP’s national leaders will resolve the issue within a day after elections in five major states,” he added.

While Yeddyurappa has acknowledged that the speculation about the party’s national leaders monitoring the issue in the Rayanna Brigade, he has denied that the issue was discussed at the party’s state executive committee meeting in Kalburgi. The BJP’s Karnataka president told mediapersons that the party would not accord priority to discussing the Rayanna Brigade issue.

“The decision will be taken at an appropriate time. Leaders will discuss the failure of the Congress government in tackling drought, the deteriorating law and order situation, railway projections and effective utilization of funds allocated for drought relief,” the former Chief Minister said.
