The News Minute| September 11, 2014| 1.00 pm IST An FIR has been filed in July 2014 by the Bagalkot police in Karnataka against Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Ananth Kumar's wife Tejaswini, in connection with the Basaveshwar Vidya Vardhak Sangh (BVVS) money scam. A former member of the trust had filed a complaint alleging misappropriation, lack of transparency and other irregularities in a financial transaction involving the purchase of the Amrutha Institute of Technology. The institute, located at Bidadi near Bangalore, comes under the Knowledge Park India Trust and operated with the Basaveshwar Veerashsiva Vidyavargaka Sangha (BVS) in Bagalkote as per a deal worth Rs.24 crore. The FIR was filed on July 19 this year. Both Ananth Kumar and his wife told the media that she had not seen the FIR. Ananth Kumar said, "It was a trust that was started by my brother in law in memory of his daughter who had passed away. There was more profit than liabilities but still, with lofty ideals, it was completely handed over to Basaveshwar Vidya Vardhak Sangh. I have nothing to do with this. My wife nor I have any idea about the FIR as we have not been contacted by anyone regarding this."
