Its known for its vibrant movie industry, but Kerala still does not have too many movies on contemporary political issues, and lamenting about it is film director Renjith.

“Film makers hesitate to depict contemporary social issues in movies and may be this is why there are no political movies coming up in Kerala” he told reporters at Meet the Press programme conducted by International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) on Monday at Trivandrum.

He said that he agreed to screen his latest movie Ngan in IFFK just because of the pressure from the organizers. He has also stated that Ngan is the representation of discarded history and there is no counter politics in it.

Ngan is based on the novel "KTN Kottur Ezhuthum Jeevithavum" by T. P Rajeev which explores various levels of human psychology. It starred Dulquer Salmaan, Suresh Krishna, Renji Panicker, Joy Mathew, Muthumani Somasundaram, Hareesh Pareday, Anumol, Jyothi Krishna, Shruthi Ramachandran and Irshad in significant roles.
