A police team from Agra in UP which visited Tamil Nadu to get the custody of an alleged hoax caller had to return upset and empty handed as the official communication letter and a copy of FIR was in Hindi and police personnel in Vellore police station could not understand Hindi.

The Agra police was denied the custody of the accused. Apparently, the alleged hoax caller had threatened serial blasts in Agra during the local Ram Barat festival (October 8-10) as a revenge for Dadri lynching.

The Agra police said that they received hoax call on October 7 and the caller threatened to have fixed bombs at the venue of the festival. The city was on high alert and searches proved that the call was hoax, according to TOI report.

The accused has made such calls in the past in various states and was arrested by the Vellore police station few days ago. A team from Rakabganj police station was sent to Vellore to take the custody of the caller but could not get it because of the language barrier, according to TOI report.

A Rakabganj policeman told TOI, “The FIR lodged at Rakabganj police station was in Hindi. The entry about the hoax call in our daily register too was in Hindi. The police team showed these documents to Vellore police who failed to understand what has been mentioned in the FIR.”

The Superintendent of Agra police said that they will be getting the FIR translated to English for the TN police and also getting a warrant issued in English to get the custody of the accused.

Agra city SP said that the man has multiple SIM cards and has made hoax calls to Lucknow, Ajmer, Agra and various other cities. Vellore police told TOI a man named Hamid Khan was arrested with three dozens of SIM cards and the man is in Vellore jail.
