The News Minute | September 22, 2014 | 09:10 am ISTA locality in Gadag district of Karnataka boasts of zero cases of theft in many years despite having no doors for any of its houses. Believed to be because of their belief in a Sufi saint Hazrat Dawal Malik who lived in the locality for centuries, the 70 families who live there never lock doors, even going to the extent of leaving their doors open while going away on vacations and trips, said the New Indian Express. This has, of course left the police extremely happy and according to them, not a single case of burglary has been reported in over several decades. The belief is that something evil will happen to a person who steals from any of those houses, said the report.
